Who I am and what I do

  • I have twenty one years’ experience in facilitation, training and development in the voluntary sector.
  • I am a skilled facilitator who helps groups of people to clarify their purpose and the processes they need in order to succeed. For example, thorough and creative planning and delivery of a review and planning event, that resulted in the whole staff team in a national charity creating a high-energy shared plan for their future work.
  • I am a natural and confident communicator; I relish interactions with people from all walks of life and making positive connections with organisations. I have successfully worked with grassroots local community groups and with prestigious, large national charities like the National Trust.
  • I have a reputation with my clients for being efficient and highly organised: “a clear communicator who completes projects on time and on budget”.
  • I have a breadth of expertise in the development and support of volunteers (and other unpaid workers) and in the design and delivery of volunteer management training programmes. For example, I have produced successful volunteer training programmes for the National Trust. I have developed new volunteering programmes and new volunteer training programmes from scratch.
  • I have a particular commitment to, and experience in, promoting diversity and conflict resolution. I run workshops on practical techniques for conflict resolution. I believe in building peace and understanding through all my work.
  • I have worked as volunteer, staff member and consultant; in voluntary organisations ranging from small to large, and in the private sector (see ‘Examples of my work’ and ‘Previous history of employment’ below, for examples).
